Welcome
A warm welcome to our brand new members of "KIDZ FIRST" at Jesus House.
OFSTED
OFSTED have granted us permission to admit children from 3 months to 5 years. If you have any friends who are looking for nursery places, please pass the word.
Personnel
Corinne van Rheede is the Nursery Manager, with years of experience in various Childcare and management positions including special needs provisions and other specialist programmes.
Karen Abu is the Deputy Manager, and has a NVQ3 in Childcare. She also has management experience.
Simone Cook and Ivylyn Thomas both have their diplomas in Nursery Nursing (NNEB).
Also on board are Kehinde Kowe, Sherene Simpson, Tasweer Ghani, Judith Freeman, and Ola.
Angela Asware is our energetic volunteer.
Breakfast/Lunches
Just a reminder, breakfast is served between the hours of 8:00am and 8:45am. Lunches will be served between the hours of 11:30 - 12:30pm.
Supplies
Please make sure your child has adequate wipes as they are used throughout the day to clean dirty hands and faces, especially after meal times.
Toys
Please do not allow children to bring their own toys into the nursery unless used as a comforter. Thank you for your co-operation in this matter.
Noticeboard
Please read the parents noticeboard from time to time.
Junk modelling
We would appreciate if you can materials like empty cereal boxes, kitchen roll holders etc. We would use them with the children in the nursery.
Labelling
Please can you label your children's clothes, food, cups, food items, etc.
Parent handbook
There is a parent handbook available for you to read in the nursery.
Collection
If you need someone to pick up your child from the nursery and the details are not on the application form please use the collection book to record this information.
Late Collection
Just to remind you we charge £1 for every minute you are late to collect your child after 6pm.
Medication
We are not allowed to administer over the counter medicines, only medicines prescribed by a doctor.
Security
Please do not open the entrance door to the nursery to anyone for safety of the children.
Show and Tell
To encourage speaking and listening skills, we like the children to bring something to show to the group on their particular "showing day". It is helpful to note the topic, and to encourage your child to bring something from home that has to do with the topic for that month.
Topics
Next term's topic (September/October) is "Celebrating our Different Cultures". We would appreciate if you could send photographs and other information about your child's cultural back ground as soon as possible, include some tasty recipes please!
Parents Evenings
Parent Evenings are an opportunity for you to view your child's work, discuss their progress and see their progress reports. They will take place twice a year, and we will let you know ahead of time.
Attendance
If your child is unable to attend can you please call the nursery as soon as possible, and follow it up with a written explanation after longer absences.
Change of details
If your details have changed, e.g. home address or telephone number, please notify us as soon as possible.
Babies
If your child makes progress in a particular area/milestone, please could you notify one of the workers. We also need to see your child's birth certificate which has to be checked by staff so please bring it in as soon as possible.
Pre-schoolers
Pre-school children will have the following activities in addition to curriculum subjects
Please can you discuss your weekend news with your children as they will be writing and drawing this as part of their literacy every Monday.
Literacy
When the children are ready they will be introduced to a reading scheme. Each week your child will be taking words home to learn in an envelope.
Homework
The children will be sent homework every Friday to complete and bring in on Monday or when they return.
Helpers
If you are interested in helping within the nursery you would be most welcome.
Sleep/Quiet Time
We encourage all children in the Nursery to rest in the afternoons. We would appreciate it if you could bring in clearly marked bed linens for your child's use at quiet times. All bedding must be taken home every week on the last day the child attends, washed and returned the following week.
